Applus+ in the UAE recently completed a project in Al Ain involving 18km of high-pressure cleaning, CCTV inspections, and deflection surveys, 10.8km of Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) lining, and 14 patch repairs. This work was critical in addressing structural and operational issues within the region's pipeline network.
The project presented several challenges, including elevated H2S levels, heavy debris accumulation, root intrusions, displaced joints, and persistent infiltration issues. Advanced equipment, such as high-pressure jetting tools and robotic CCTV systems, was used to inspect and clean the pipelines while ensuring safety and precision under these demanding conditions. The installation of 10.8km of CIPP lining and 14 targeted patch repairs reinforced the structural integrity of the pipelines, reducing the risk of future failures and extending their operational lifespan.
Mark Loughman, Head of the Department UAE Pipeline Inspection & Rehabilitation, noted: "The team working in Al Ain demonstrated outstanding professionalism and dedication, which were vital to the success of this project. This project was part of a broader initiative to enhance Al Ain's infrastructure, ensuring reliable and efficient pipeline performance for the city's growing population."
Applus+ in the UAE continues to build on its expertise in advanced pipeline services, preparing for upcoming projects with a focus on innovation, safety, and delivering measurable results for its clients.
