Applus+ has been awarded a contract with the Public Transport Authority (PTA) for Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) Material Testing and Failure Analysis. Our team in Perth, Western Australia will provide laboratory services for critical OLE components on an as-needed basis. Perth’s rail network has enjoyed electrification since 1991 and this contract is integral to assist in extending the life of ageing OLE assets, critical to Perth’s economy.
Our materials testing approach will follow all relevant Australian and international standards, providing a rigorous framework for quality, compliance, and actionable insights. Our services under this contract are designed to provide the PTA with insights and solutions designed to enhance the reliability and safety of its Overhead Line Equipment. At the core of these services is Defect Analysis, which involves meticulously identifying failure mechanisms and root causes within OLE components. By thoroughly analyzing these defects, we can pinpoint the specific factors contributing to component degradation or malfunction. This in-depth understanding forms the foundation for potential improvements across the PTA’s OLE network.
Building on this analysis, we will deliver evidence-based recommendations that directly address identified issues. These recommendations will be crafted with precision, drawing on data-driven findings to ensure they are not only effective but also practical for long-term application. By focusing on durability and reliability, our guidance will support the PTA in maintaining high operational standards and minimizing disruptions across the network.
The contract itself spans an initial three-year period, with the option to extend for an additional two years, to cater for evolving infrastructure requirements. This structure provides both flexibility and stability, enabling a lasting partnership that can adapt to meet the PTA’s ongoing needs.
