In March 2021, our Marine Inspection team was engaged to complete a damage survey of the engine room on an FPSO in the Northwest Shelf, Western Australia. We successfully completed the survey in May 2021.
During the project, our team was requested to provide suitable options to carry out an inspection that would provide greater accuracy in comparison to spot thickness measurements to ensure an accurate engineering assessment. Applus+ delivered 3D Laser Scanning paired with Ultrasonic Thickness Measurements.
This project was a large collaborative effort between the vessel owner, the class society and Applus+ working with third-party contractors to carry out the necessary inspection and reporting, surface preparation, and coating remediation activities.
Despite some challenges, our team did an excellent job in communicating the damage condition assessment to all the stakeholders and managed to complete the project on time, safely, with a high quality of inspection data.
With this project, Applus+ reinforces its position as an innovative trusted business partner to a major client in the sector.
