Applus+ has been awarded a significant contract for a renewable fuels project, a groundbreaking initiative located just South of Perth in Western Australia. The three-year contract, which commenced in April 2023, marks a new chapter in Applus+ involvement in the renewable fuels and energy products sector in Western Australia providing quality assurance and control, and many other engineering, construction, and health, safety & environmental support services.

Converting a refinery into a renewable fuels project involves retrofitting infrastructure and modifying processes to produce sustainable fuels, while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and market demand.

Applus+ role in this renewable fuels project involves providing specialised engineering, procurement, health, safety, and environmental (HSE) services, as well as quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC), construction supervision, and commissioning expertise.

A key highlight of the project is its collaborative approach, working closely with government, customers, and stakeholders to transition the refinery into a modern and efficient production facility. Applus+ personnel, including the Construction Site Quality Lead and NDT specialists, are actively involved on-site, ensuring that the project adheres to the highest quality standards.

The renewable fuels project not only underscores Applus+ commitment to supporting the global transition to renewable energy but also demonstrates the company’s ability to deliver complex renewable projects that align with the strategic goals of major clients. As the project progresses, it promises to play a crucial role in decarbonising key industries, contributing to a more sustainable future.
