In late 2021, the Applus+ Australian Head Quarters situated in Bibra Lake, Perth, took a significant step toward sustainability by installing solar panels to reduce its carbon footprint and lower operational costs. The initiative, led by Digitalisation Manager Daniel Lewis, driven by a strong commitment to sustainability and efficiency, has yielded remarkable environmental and financial results.
Since installation, the solar panel system has cut down 105 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually—the equivalent of planting 2,043 trees. In addition to the environmental benefits, the office has enjoyed substantial cost savings, with the panels offsetting approximately AUD$15,910 annually. With an initial investment of AUD$27,399, after Government rebates, the system achieved full payback in under two years.
"The solar panel installation was a key milestone in our commitment to sustainability. Seeing both the environmental and financial returns so quickly has been incredibly rewarding," said Mark Daniel, Regional QHSE Manager – Pacific.
This initiative is expected to deliver benefits for the next 25 years, reinforcing the Applus+’s role in driving sustainability.
