Applus+ is proud to have a specialized group dedicated to nuclear projects, with a team that brings extensive experience and expertise to every aspect of nuclear services. Our Nuclear Services team is composed of highly skilled professionals who possess deep knowledge of nuclear systems, processes, and industry requirements. With over 100 years of combined experience, our key team members have successfully contributed to a diverse portfolio of both large-scale nuclear and non-nuclear projects, ensuring excellence and innovation in every undertaking.
Applus+, we take pride in offering the nuclear industry support and professional experience during critical peak outages. Our personnel seamlessly integrate into operations by adhering to existing quality standards, procedures, and equipment requirements. We provide skilled personnel to support various inspection divisions across several stations and units through our Master Services Agreements (MSAs).
Quality Control Resident Inspection (QCRI) is a specialization of Applus+. This entails employing sophisticated methodologies such as ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), penetrant testing (PT), and radiographic testing (RT) to assist with maintenance programs. Through borescope inspections, ocular examinations, and validation of pressure boundary vessel components, our specialists guarantee the integrity and reliability of critical assets.
Subsequent project scopes encompassed SCAR radiography for all feeder campaigns, addressing nozzle preparation along with the upper, middle, and lower feeder welds. It encompasses SCAR radiography for the Liquid Relief Valve (LRV) Project and Return to Service (RTS) programs, with pipe sizes from 3/4" to 24". Furthermore, personnel augmentation assists Quality Control in many essential domains, encompassing feeder installation, calandria tube installation, DN tubing installation, and feeder cabinet installation.
Applus+ in Canada conducted SCAR radiography on header nozzles, primary heat transport (PHT) systems, and numerous minor scopes, in addition to the application of RAZAR technology on lower feeder welds. Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI) was performed on feeder welds and DN tubing installations. Advanced ultrasonic testing (UT) was conducted on the PHT systems. We oversaw the complete non-destructive examination (NDE) scope, providing Quality Control resources for feeder installations, DN tubing, and fuel channel assemblies to provide thorough project support.in inspections of Flow Accelerated Corrosion (FAC). Measuring wall thickness aids in identifying instances of pipe thinning due to corrosion, potentially leading to failures. This proactive strategy enables our clients to address issues prior to escalation, hence reducing operational risks.
Another one of our specialized domains is Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT), wherein we detect anomalies on turbine blades utilizing advanced ultrasonic instruments and software. This thorough inspection method encompasses procedures such as weld evaluation and other essential assessments, hence ensuring the overall integrity of turbines.
A significant service we provide is the Periodic Inspection Program (PIP). Our personnel prepare welds on pressure-retaining components and conduct volumetric ultrasonic testing—either manually or through automation. Additionally, several components undergo visual inspection to guarantee long-term reliability and compliance with safety regulations.
Applus+ has consistently aided through routine callouts and temporary initiatives. These services offer personnel augmentation, sophisticated non-destructive inspection (NDE), and assistance for quality assurance and control (QA/QC). Our capacity to promptly provide experienced personnel for both routine and urgent requirements establish us as a reliable partner.
