Applus+ has successfully completed its second turnaround project for one of Canada's largest single-source producers of synthetic crude oil from oil sands.
Visual inspections of cokers, boilers, pipelines, and other vessels were within the scope of work. These are the units that convert mined raw bitumen into high-quality, light, sweet crude oil by fluid coking, hydroprocessing, hydrotreating, and reblending before being delivered down the pipeline to refineries in the Edmonton area.
The client's principal worry was meeting the labor requirements required to complete the scope while maintaining the crucial path of the deadline. Concerns arose because of competing projects and remote location challenges. Due to the network and collaborations with API inspectors across the country, Applus+ was able to meet all of its clients' goals and needs. For the first time, refractory API scope was added to Applus+ in a visual inspection project, working with some of the most experienced API510 and API570 in the trade.
Applus+ had the most visual inspectors on the project and completed the scope on schedule and without incident. The project's successful completion bolstered Applus+'s reputation as a dependable and trustworthy partner in the oil and gas industry.
