For over 80 years, Applus+ has been helping clients innovate and implement sustainable solutions across diverse sectors. A prime example of this is our participation in a CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) project to capture and transport carbon dioxide emissions in the Netherlands. By enabling large-scale carbon capture and storage, such projects have the potential to decarbonize industrial activities while minimizing environmental impacts.
As part of this project, Applus+ was in charge of inspecting the pipelines using our in-house developed technical solution, IWEX.
IWEX (Inverse Wavefield Extrapolation) is an advanced technology used in non-destructive testing (NDT) to accurately detect and analyze defects in materials and structures. This technique utilizes ultrasonic inspection, where individual A-scans are recorded for each element of an array transducer.
Benefits for clients:
IWEX helps Applus+ clients confidently predict the failure probability of specific pipeline defects, enabling informed decisions about maintenance and repairs while contributing to the safety of their infrastructure.
Our contributions to energy transition projects and our climate change services align with our vision to create a positive impact on the planet.
