13/02/2025

This tourism consultancy project involved conducting tourist surveys and collecting data from visitors to analyze their behavior in the city of Valladolid, Spain. The analysis took into account hotel occupancy data, visits to museums, and places of interest. The aim was to assess the impact of the City Council's initiatives to improve tourism quality.

The city's Tourism Observatory is a tool that provides immediate and comprehensive information on tourist flows, supply, and demand in Valladolid, which facilitates decision-making regarding the promotion of tourism and related services.

Applus+ incorporated mobility solutions and a Business Process Management (BPM) platform to manage all the documentation generated in this project. This initiative aimed to provide the city council with daily information related to the occupancy of various hotels in the city. Additionally, these tools allowed for the effective management of collected information, facilitating the preparation of monthly and annual reports.

    The project involved:

    • Conducting monthly studies and data collection in accommodations (hotels, hostels, and guest houses), museums, exhibition halls, tourist information points, and attractions, access routes to Valladolid (RENFE, AENA), conference venues, and language centers.
    • Conducting surveys of tourists, conference and meeting attendees, and foreign students.
    • Carrying out quarterly and annual studies based on the data collected.

The work provided the Tourism Observatory with immediate and comprehensive information on the flow of tourism supply and demand in Valladolid, serving as an objective and effective tool for decision-making regarding the promotion of tourism and tourism services.

Since then, the Valladolid Tourism Observatory has continued to analyze tourism trends and dynamics in the city to understand visitor patterns, assess tourism's impact on local resources and infrastructure, and ensure sustainable tourism practices.

This ongoing analysis has supported strategic planning and decision-making by public and private stakeholders in the tourism sector, aimed at improving the visitor experience, promoting responsible tourism, and fostering collaboration between local businesses and government entities.
