Renewable Energy Hybridization: The Simubatt+ Enertis modeling software

    Renewable energy enables the integration of multiple power generation technologies that can also be combined with energy storage solutions to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the electricity system. Specifically, it involves integrating solar photovoltaics (PV), wind, or a combination of the two technologies coupled with battery energy storage systems (BESS) into a single facility. This approach aims to optimize energy production, smooth out intermittency problems inherent to renewable sources, and better match supply to demand. The ultimate goals of hybridization are to improve overall system performance, increase capacity factors, reduce constraints, and enhance the economic viability of renewable energy projects.

    To achieve these objectives, Enertis Applus+ has created Simubatt+ Enertis, a software solution designed to thoroughly analyze the techno-economic feasibility of combining renewable energy technologies and adding battery energy storage systems (BESS). This tool simulates various hybrid configurations, delivering essential insights for strategic decision-making and optimal technical design.

    Simubatt+ Enertis enables detailed assessments of hourly energy flow throughout the project's lifespan at the grid connection point, including grid injection capacity and other critical metrics that aid in strategic decision-making to ensure seamless technology integration. On the financial side, the software provides comprehensive projections of anticipated revenue, return on investment, business volume, energy sale price scenarios, and battery CAPEX, supporting informed, data-driven investment choices.

    Since its launch, the software has been utilized in over 50 projects, including several in Latin America.
