Applus+ has recently been accredited as a Conformity Evaluation Body for the SERMI scheme (Security Related vehicle repair and maintenance information). This scheme, established by Delegated Regulation (EU) No 2021/1244, amends Regulation (EU) No 2018/858, and aims to provide companies with secure access to vehicle safety-related information. This service is aimed at both independent workshops and their employees.
The SERMI certificate is a procedure that allows independent operators and their employees to securely connect to safety information from multiple vehicle manufacturers, including software, functions, and services related to the physical safety of vehicles. This standardised access is backed by security standards and certificates, ensuring that independent operators and their employees are approved and authorised to access this information.
From 1 April 2024, approval and authorisation by an accredited Conformity Evaluation Body, such as Applus+, with accreditation no. 548/EI911 in the SERMI scheme, is required to access this crucial information related to vehicle anti-theft security.
The SERMI certification process, carried out by Applus+, involves the request and receipt of documentation from independent operators and their employees, followed by a thorough analysis and evaluation of the workshops. Once approved, Applus+ issues the corresponding digital certificates, valid for 5 years, ensuring continued compliance with the requirements set out in Regulation (EU) 2018/858.
With this accreditation, Applus+ reinforces its commitment to technical excellence, continuous innovation and customer satisfaction, and enables us to provide a comprehensive solution to efficiently and securely access the most relevant information for vehicle maintenance and repair, thus contributing to the improvement of service quality and process optimisation.
