Royal Decree 56/2016 on Energy Efficiency has set a regulatory framework that promotes energy efficiency in companies and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. According to this Royal Decree, the companies with more than 250 employees, a turnover exceeding 50 million euros and a balance sheet of over 43 million euros –as well as the groups of companies meeting these requirements– are required to carry out an energy audit every four years.
Applus+ has developed an energy audit procedure that meets the requirements under Royal Decree 56/2016.
This service allows our clients to gain real knowledge of their energy consumption, as well as the savings measures that could be implemented at their companies, depending on their viability.
The scope of the energy audit should include at least 85% of total final energy consumption at the premises located within the national territory and used in performing industrial, business and service activities. It is also permitted to apply an environmental or energy management system certified by an independent body.
All the opportunities detected through the energy audit carried out by Applus+ for the development of energy saving measures may be quantified economically and marketed in the CAES system market for obliged parties, which would reinforce the strategy and viability for the development of detected opportunities.
Once the service is completed, Applus+ will deliver all the relevant documentation to the client in the proper format, in compliance with Royal Decree 56/2016.
