Applus+ in Italy will provide technical advisory services for a review of the EPC and O&M contract for a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project

The project, with a capacity of 12 MW/48 MWh, was requested by an important operator of clean energy from renewable sources, operating in nine countries at the European level. Both companies will be responsible for conducting a thorough technical review of the projects' Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC), as well as Operation and Maintenance (O&M) contract drafts.

The comprehensive scope of the project includes:

• Technical review of the draft EPC and O&M contracts related to the design, supply, construction, commissioning and maintenance of the BESS project. The review will focus on the main technical aspects of the contracts and related annexes (e.g. scope of supply, performance and product guarantees, penalty schedule, plant delivery, storage, construction and commissioning, testing, construction schedule, payment schedule, responsibility matrix, etc.), highlighting deviations from market standards known to Applus+ and suggesting possible modifications in line with them.
• Project Management.
   

Draft contracts’ review also includes the review of 6-8 attachments per contract, enhancing the overall evaluation of the project’s contractual framework. The technical advisory work is expected to be completed within a two-week timeframe, starting upon receipt of the draft contracts.

The BESS project, currently in the authorization phase, is planned to be located near a wind farm in the province of Palermo. By incorporating electrochemical storage systems for 12MW, the project aims to optimize renewable energy use and contribute to the region’s sustainable development.
