Understanding SASO certification requirements

In Saudi Arabia, all consignments of products covered by a Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization (SASO) Technical Regulation must be issued a Product Certificate (PCoC) and accompanied by a Shipment Certificate (SCoC) before being exported to the country. These certificates ensure compliance with the relevant standards and technical regulations.

The role of PCoC and SCoC

Product Conformity Certificate (PCoC): Issued by an accredited body, such as Applus+, for all registered products in the SABER platform, valid for one year per model.

Shipment Certificate of Conformity (SCoC): Issued upon client request through the SABER platform, based on official shipment documents, and must be issued before shipment arrival.

Certification process breakdown

1. Product information collection: Review product samples and details, conduct required tests, and issue test reports.
2. Product Certification of Conformity (PCoC): Submit documentation via SABER, evaluate, audit factory production, and issue PCoC.
3. Shipment Certificate of Conformity (SCoC): Request and submit shipment documentation via SABER, evaluate, and issue SCoC for each shipment.

• Construction and building materials: Metals, insulation, cladding, bricks, tiles, sanitary ware, doors, windows, and accessories.
• Mechanical: Portable machines, mobile machinery, heavy-duty equipment, auto spare parts, and motorcycles.
• Textile: Textile products, PPEs, and leather products.
• Electrical: Batteries, EMC, hazardous substance restrictions, and low-voltage equipment.
• Chemical: Food safety tools and kitchen appliances.
