On 3 October, Applus+ will hold an expert forum entitled “Advances in testing and inspection techniques for the railway sector.” The event will be held at the Applus+ headquarters in Madrid, located on the Las Mercedes Business Park, from 9:30 am.
The forum will be aimed at rolling stock maintainers and manufacturers, offering a unique opportunity to learn about the latest technologies and techniques in the field of advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) and other key areas related to railway inspection, such as regulatory inspections and transformer testing.
The day will begin with an opening speech by Rubén Cabeza Sánchez, Business Development Coordinator of the Mediterranean Region for the railway sector at Applus+, who will give a general introduction to the company and our applications in the railway sector.
This will be followed by a presentation on advanced technologies in non-destructive testing by Óscar Reboredo Losada, Director of the Mechanical Business Line. Both conventional NDTs and new technologies applied to rolling stock and infrastructure, such as recordable NDTs, IWEX and ACFM technology, will be addressed. These innovations are aimed at improving inspections in both manufacturing and maintenance in the railway sector.
Moreover, the latest developments in regulations and staff accreditation in NDT will be presented, with the intervention of Avelino Vázquez Sánchez, Technical Director of NDT at Applus+, as well as some recent success stories developed by our company for the railway sector, presented by Jose Manuel Gonzalez Galán, head of the Mechanical Department in the Central Area.
The day will also include a talk on regulatory inspection obligations in industrial facilities, led by Francisco Jesús Rueda Morales, Director of the Industrial Safety Business Line.
On the other hand, José María González Fleitas, Technical Director of the Oils Laboratory, will close the speeches with a presentation on transformer testing and dielectric oil analysis, aimed at maintenance staff.
The event will conclude with a practical workshop led by Óscar Reboredo and Avelino Vázquez, where attendees will be able to experience first-hand the latest non-destructive testing technologies applied to real parts with a practical demonstration of our portable IWEX equipment and ACFM technology.
