Applus+ K2, a brand part of the Applus+ Group, leads a cutting-edge project focused on modernizing measurement infrastructures in the hydrographic areas of Antioquia, Colombia. This project, which covers the municipalities of Fredonia, Titiribí, and Armenia, aims to strengthen the network of hydrometeorological stations in the hydrographic sub-basin of the Cauca River.
The project addresses the modernization and improvement of measurement infrastructures through the installation of sensors and the automation of stations in the streams of the identified hydrographic areas. Applus+ K2 provides comprehensive water management services, from dismantling and constructing infrastructures to upgrading stations through the acquisition and installation of advanced sensors for hydrological and environmental monitoring.
The contract aims primarily to strengthen the network of hydrometeorological stations in the Cauca River sub-basin. Specific activities range from preliminary visits and drawing up plans to the construction of hydraulic infrastructures and the acquisition and installation of specialized equipment.
Developed in the municipalities of Fredonia, Titiribí, and Armenia, in the region of Antioquia, the project started on April 20, 2023, and will extend until April 2024. It arises from the need for a company in the infrastructure sector to comply with a forced investment agreement, representing no less than 1%, according to the rigorous specifications of the country's climate surveillance agency.
The project is not without risks, from delays in equipment acquisition to social and climatic conflicts that could affect the execution of civil works. Applus+ K2 has established detailed mitigation strategies for each identified risk, demonstrating its commitment to efficient and successful project management.
Transparency and effective communication are key in the project. Progress is communicated through periodic reports and committee meetings, demonstrating Applus+ K2's commitment to accountability and project success.
In addition to water management improvement services, Applus+ offers a wide range of environmental services covering all aspects of environmental management, such as biodiversity protection, soil management, and conservation of the atmosphere and air quality.
