The Applus+ team in Chile has been selected to oversee the construction of a major wind farm located in the Antofagasta region of Chile. This project involves the installation of 26 wind turbines with a total capacity of 109.2 MW, contributing to the country's energy transition strategy by feeding wind energy into the national electrical system. The energy will be transmitted through a 21 km transmission line that will connect to the El Abra Substation.
Applus+ will provide a multidisciplinary team to supervise the construction, ensuring that it complies with current regulations. Additionally, the team will manage technical requests and propose improvements to optimize the project’s development in key areas such as civil works and electrical systems.
This project is crucial for reducing dependence on fossil fuels, introducing a new renewable energy source aligned with Chile’s decarbonization goals. Applus+ is committed to meeting deadlines, maintaining high safety standards, and protecting the region's environmental and cultural heritage.
With constant monitoring and weekly reporting, Applus+ will anticipate any potential setbacks during the project’s execution, enabling swift corrective action. Key identified risks, such as unpredictable soil conditions or environmental and archaeological challenges, will be managed proactively.
The success of this project will not only add renewable energy to Chile’s energy matrix but also reaffirm Applus+’ commitment to safety, aiming for zero workplace accidents and adhering to the strictest environmental standards.
Applus brings extensive expertise to large-scale renewable energy projects, offering a comprehensive suite of testing, inspection, consulting, and engineering services. In the wind energy sector, its specialized services include wind turbine inspections, wind consulting, and wind measurement campaigns, among others.
