Applus+ successfully participates in the project to illuminate the bridge of Noia, Spain

25/05/2021

The Galician Autonomous Government chose the Applus+ Group to complete and improve the lighting of the bridge over the Noia estuary and address the overexposure of the existing lighting.

The first stage consisted of producing the construction project in order to analyse and evaluate the different activities and alternatives for illuminating the bridge, always taking into consideration how to integrate the landscape of the viaduct with the surroundings.

The design proposal uses LED technology for all the projectors and Neon-LED for the band placed on the edge of the bridge. The renovation of the lighting, replacing the conventional systems for LED technology, entails a reduction of CO2 emissions and power consumption. Although its initial cost is higher than the cost of traditional lighting, it is amortised in a brief period of time thanks to the extended life cycle of LED lights and their low maintenance cost.

Afterwards, the Galician Government decided to hire the Applus+ Group to provide technical assistance to the construction works to supervise and help achieve the targets set in the initial layout of the project.

The challenge of the project consisted of applying difference scenes and colour combinations by means of an installation, equipment, and specific control systems that had to be thoroughly assessed in advance. The guidelines set in the technical regulation in force regarding energy efficiency were also followed, complying with the requirements set for environmental and decorative lighting.

The size and cross-sectoral nature of our company, as well as our prior experience in projects of various magnitudes for the Galician Government, played a key role to convince the Galician administration to put its trust once again in the Applus+ Group.
