Applus+ has been selected to provide quality inspections and tests for photovoltaic modules on behalf of a major Italian energy provider for a solar plant located in the South of France. This solar plant is a pilot project of this important Italian player which aims to integrate the production of energy from 100% renewable sources.
The services provided by Applus+ encompass quality assessments throughout the production cycle and pre-production to pre-shipment stages, among others. These services include pre-production factory audits, inline production monitoring, pre-shipment inspections and batch testing.
At the manufacturer's plant in China, Applus+ will conduct the visual inspections of 80 modules, flash tests, electroluminescence tests, and measure the bifaciality coefficient of the modules. Additionally, Applus+ will perform system voltage durability verifications (PID verifications) at their accredited laboratory in China. To ensure proper packaging and loading, Applus+ will also conduct inspections on site, overseeing the packaging and loading processes.
Applus+ is committed to providing a prompt and efficient service and aims to complete the entire scope within one month. Thus, the goal is to facilitate a smooth transition from manufacturing to installation, ensuring that the photovoltaic modules meet the highest quality standards.
The solar plant, located in a small town in the South of France with a population of 439 inhabitants, covers 8 hectares of land and is expected to produce approximately 6.7 GWh/year.
Following the success of this pilot project, the Italian energy provider has plans to establish several renewable plants worldwide.
These inspections and tests enable Applus+ to provide comprehensive monitoring of the PV modules quality conditions during the production phase, ensuring they meet the highest standards before being transported to the installation site.
With this service, Applus+ remains independent of the module and other component manufacturers, offering photovoltaic power plant owners and operators a full range of customised testing and quality control inspection services. Participation in this project represents another relevant achievement for Applus+ as they continue to support Italian operators in their energy initiatives.
