Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD): Applus+ to take part in the Tecniberia Conference on its impact and application

07/03/2025

Applus+ will participate on March 13th in the CSRD—Application and business impact in engineering conference, which is organized by Tecniberia, the Spanish association of engineering, consultancy, and technology services companies. This is a key event for the engineering consultancy sector.

In a regulatory evolution context, the transposition of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) into the Spanish regulatory framework marks a fundamental milestone. This legislative change redefines reporting requirements on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects, promoting transparency and accountability within companies.

The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) is a European Union directive that sets stricter requirements for companies' sustainability reporting. It aims to improve the transparency and quality of sustainability information companies provide to investors, consumers, and other stakeholders.

This directive extends the scope of its predecessor, the Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD). It affects large EU companies by requiring them to report according to the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), a set of standards developed to standardise sustainability reporting.

Among others, the directive stipulates that information must be audited by third parties to ensure its reliability, reports must be presented in a standard digital format for easy access and comparison, and information must be traceable. Digitisation is key to CSRD compliance because it facilitates the collection, management and reporting of data, as well as its digitisation to ensure accessibility and comparability. Automation, Artificial Intelligence and Big Data technologies will be essential for its fulfillment.

Applus+ will be represented by Beatriz López, Senior Sustainability Consultant of the Consulting Business Line, Victoria Escuredo, Director of the Environmental and Occupational Risk Prevention Consulting Business Line, and Teresa Sanfeliu, Vice President of Internal Quality, H&S and Innovation, who will share case studies and lessons learned.

This conference aims to provide a clear and practical view of the CSRD's application and impact on engineering companies. Key issues such as the origin of the EINF and the Sustainability Report and the main differences between the CSRD and previous regulations will be addressed. General requirements, implementation timelines, and the most important regulatory changes, such as dual materiality, European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), and taxonomy, will also be discussed.

Applus+ has more than 25 years of experience offering consultancy services in sustainability, environmental impact analysis, and health and safety, among other areas.

If you wish to attend, please register to participate in person at Tecniberia's headquarters in Madrid or online.
