Global consulting, engineering, and quality control firm Enertis Applus+, with deep expertise in renewable energy and storage, has assisted Grenergy Renovables and the financial institutions BNP Paribas and Société Générale in financing a portfolio of three photovoltaic projects in Latin America as an independent technical advisor. Enertis Applus+ will also provide support during the construction, commissioning, and operation stages of the plants.
The portfolio, which totals 386 MWp, comprises the 241 MWp Gran Teno and the 48 MWp Tamango plants in the Maule region of Chile, and the 97 MWp Matarani project in the southern department of Arequipa, in Peru.
Enertis Applus+ prepared a technical due diligence report for each installation, providing a comprehensive analysis of the projects to verify that they comply with the required technical regulations and quality standards, and to identify any other technical and economic risks. This analysis evaluated, among other aspects, the site characteristics, design and main equipment, energy production estimates, permits, and grid connection.
In addition, Enertis Applus+ reviewed the engineering, procurement, and construction contract (EPC), the project timeline, the operation and maintenance contract (O&M), the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the sale of the energy, and the financial model, and analysed technical aspects, such as capital expenditure (CAPEX), estimated commercial operation date, estimated energy production, and operating expenses (OPEX).
Furthermore, Enertis Applus+ will supervise the construction stage with monitoring reports and will provide support for the provisional and final acceptance of the plants, verifying compliance with the EPC and O&M contracts. Additionally, Enertis Applus+ will carry out annual reviews in the operation phase.
“It has been a privilege to work with BNP Paribas and Société Générale together with Grenergy Renovables, one of the leading companies in the international renewable energy sector. I would like to thank them for the trust they placed in the Enertis Applus+ team to ensure the correct development of this cross-border PV portfolio in Chile and Peru, from the financing phase to the operation phase. This collaboration allows us to continue strengthening our presence in a region that is key for the future of the PV sector”, explained Aitor Ilundain, Chile Country Manager and Regional Manager for LATAM South at Enertis Applus+.
