The Applus+ centre of excellence for composite materials in Illescas is one of 14 laboratories to have achieved the ‘Merit’ rating, out of over 100 evaluated by Airbus. This is the first time that Airbus has carried out this type of evaluation on its testing suppliers.
In the first half of 2019, the Illescas laboratory also received an equivalent recognition from Nadcap, the international organisation which evaluates and accredits suppliers in the aerospace sector.
Both merit awards represent an acknowledgement of excellence in the laboratory’s competence and technical expertise, as well as the quality of its processes and customer service.
The Illescas laboratory is located in one of the main aeronautical clusters in Spain. The centre specialises in composite materials and provides a full service of characterisation and quality control for composites, including the manufacture and preparation of test specimens, mechanical and physicochemical testing and non-destructive testing.
