Digitalisation has accelerated during the coronavirus pandemic. However, some companies have taken advantage of these challenging times, these times of change, to leap into the future. That is what we, at Applus+, have done: hastened a comprehensive digital transformation of both our corporate processes and our own technologies, implementing initiatives that are unique in the world, with top-level partners, for which we have received numerous awards.
Expansión, the leading economic newspaper in Spain, has echoed these achievements.
The key to a successful digital transformation lies in bringing together and coordinating a range of technology and data efforts, but above all, it depends on the people involved. Teams need to be equipped with the necessary skills to deal with the new reality and cultivate an innovative working environment from within. Applus+ offers more than 750,000 hours of training, which it has adapted to a blended learning format with great success worthy of external recognition: our management development programmes have won at the Stevie Awards and HCM Excellence Awards this year for best unique or innovative learning initiative and best in blended learning.
Other award-winning digital initiatives we have launched include robotisation solutions, which extricate employees to take on new, more value-added work. This project was short-listed for the ABB Ability Digital Awards 2021 and was granted the bronze awards at the Stevie Awards 2021 for best achievement in people management technology. And for recruitment, our asynchronous video interviews, in which the Talent team launches questions that candidates must answer recording themselves on video, allowing for time optimisation and better results, were recognized at the TIARA Awards. Furthermore, Applus+ has been selected as one of the top-three European companies for its innovative practices in digital technology applied to talent acquisition.
As a culmination of this leap into the future in challenging times, we have joined Workday, the leading tool for the complete digitisation of people management processes. In a single year, Applus+ has implemented most of the Workday modules simultaneously in three countries (Spain, Italy and Portugal), something that few global companies have managed before. It is also one of the first projects to be conducted completely online, without face-to-face meetings.
Internal communication with (artificial) intelligence
For a digital transformation strategy to be successful, it must encompass all areas of the company. Applus+ internal communication is an example of this, and has received several awards in recent years, including four AVA Digital Awards 2021, presented in the US and granted to companies with the best global digital marketing and communication management.
Another example of our ongoing digital transformation in this area, is the implementation of a tool unique in the world in conjunction with Microsoft and Turing Challenge. By combining three technologies, we are developing a bot based on artificial intelligence that allows us to send messages to employees through Teams and for employees to engage in a two-way and direct conversation with the company on internal communication issues. The bot understands 86 languages and responds in English and Spanish; it is able to launch communications directly to employees and to recognise and interact using natural language, and, when unable to reply, to forward queries to a technical team.
The Applus+ digitalisation process as a whole has been recognised at the Business Culture Awards 2021, where the company was selected as one of the five top companies in the world in the category of Best Digital Transformation Initiative, and among the top eight for our corporate culture and initiatives to build a global innovation culture. Applus+ has thus proven itself to be an expert in digital solutions and a leader in cutting-edge research, always looking to pursue new digital horizons and live up to our motto: together, beyond standards.
