The Applus+ Laboratories Division strengthens its position in the European electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing market for the automotive industry. The incorporation of 3C Test Ltd will enable Applus+ to extend to its clients a UK service and presence. The lab is located in the Silverstone Technology Park and boasts cutting-edge facilities for carrying out EMC tests on both automotive components and vehicles.
Madrid, 9th May 2018. Applus+, a global testing, inspection and certification company, has acquired 3C Test Ltd (3C), an independent British EMC Test laboratory providing electromagnetic compatibility testing services to a wide range of industry sectors, but with particular specialisation in the automotive field. With this acquisition, Applus+ advances with its strategic plan of increasing its presence in high-value-added sectors.
The 3C laboratory is located within the Silverstone Technology Park in the UK and is one of Europe’s reference laboratories for manufacturers of automotive components and vehicles. In 2017 its turnover exceeded £3 million.
3C is one of the few European laboratories whose tests are officially recognised by all automotive manufacturers and boasts cutting-edge facilities for EMC testing on automotive components and vehicles, including electrical cars and heavy-duty vehicles. In addition they also hold accreditation with UKAS, FCC, VCCI, VCA and VSCC.
3C will join the Applus+ Laboratories Division, which provides a range of testing and certification services to the automotive sector especially for electrical and electromagnetic compatibility services. The Division already has EMC laboratories in Spain and Italy and is a specialist provider of component validation plans.
“The acquisition of 3C Test reinforces our position in the automotive sector, with three reference laboratories in Europe. This operation will help us to extend our geographical reach and benefit our existing clients by being able to provide services from the UK for them. Furthermore we expect to benefit 3C´s clients with our international presence”, highlights Jordi Brufau, Executive Vice President of the Laboratories Division.
According to James Gordon-Colebrooke, Managing Director of 3C Test, “joining Applus+ is a natural choice as significant synergy between the two companies mean that together we have a great opportunity for growth. Applus+ brings a long-track record in testing and certification and this will enable us to offer our clients new services in fields such as component reliability and vehicle connectivity.”
