Applus+ acquires K2 Ingeniería, environmental consulting company in Colombia

Madrid, July 14 2022 - Applus+, a global testing, inspection and certification company, is pleased to announce the agreement to acquire the entire share capital of K2 Ingeniería S.A.S (K2), a provider of environmental consulting and monitoring services based in Bucaramanga in Colombia. Closing of the transaction is expected within the next few weeks. The experienced senior management team will continue ensuring a smooth integration with Applus+.
K2 was established in 1999 and currently employs 257 professionals serving five key service lines: Environmental Consulting, Environmental Monitoring, Technology, Water Engineering, and Power Engineering. Its revenue in 2021 was €13 million.
Within the framework of sustainable development, K2 advises clients on diagnosis and problem solving with regard to environmental and social matters, developing projects focused on air and water quality, waste, noise, meteorology, and flora and fauna management. Its services are tailored to support the industrial, energy and civil infrastructure sectors.
In addition to its headquarters, K2 also has offices in Bogotá and outside of Colombia, in Peru, Ecuador and Guatemala.
This latest acquisition is a leader in the country and highly recognised in the region, holding a significant number of recognitions and distinctions for innovation and it has participated in the development of regulations to safeguard and improve the environment. It has also developed proprietary hardware and software solutions that strengthen its service offering using digital technology, IoT and Artificial Intelligence, all of which can be used in other end-markets and regions. For its part, Applus+ will also benefit from being able to offer the K2 client base further relevant services in the region.
Current sustainability trends, both international and regional, point to notable growth for K2. Latin America, and Colombia in particular, is reinforcing and implementing new environmental laws and regulations impacting the industry and the public sector. This, coupled with rising demand for environmental services and major public infrastructure plans, will ensure K2 continues to thrive in the future.
