Applus+ among 2022 Europe's Climate Leaders according to 'The Financial Times'

Madrid, May 9 2022 - Applus+, a global leader in the testing, inspection and certification sector, has been included in the annual ranking of Europe’s Climate Leaders 2022 developed by The Financial Times and Statista.

The 400 companies in the list are those that have achieved the greatest reduction in the intensity of their Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions over a 5-year period (2015-2020), according to the survey.

Scope 1 and 2 emissions are produced by the company’s own operations and the energy the company uses to function. Scope 3 emissions, which are generated along the value chain and account for the bulk of companies’ emissions, are not included in the survey, but are disclosed by Applus+, something not all companies do.

Applus+ has set a goal to reduce 30% of its scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2024 compared to 2019, its base year, becoming scope 1 and 2 carbon neutral by 2023 and a net-zero company by 2050 following recommendations by the Science Based Targets initiative. This commitment has been taken into account by The Financial Times and Statista, as well as the B rating by performance monitor CDP.

Applus+ is featured in this list alongside 22 other Spanish listed companies and other environmentally-focused European listed multinational corporations.
