Applus+ celebrates women's impact in engineering with insights from our collaborators

For Laura Zapata, Senior Engineer at Homologation Passenger Car & Components, "it is necessary to increase the presence and visibility of women engineers, since we possess many intrinsic qualities to enrich the sector, such as emotional intelligence. Engineering requires high communication skills, and it is necessary to have interpersonal skills to focus on excellence."

Neus Castañé Lobato is a double engineer: in Electrical Engineering and Automotive Engineering. Currently, she  is Product Coordinator for e-Powertrain. According to her, "there needs to be an educational change. Everyone should be encouraged to choose what they like, since any profession is valid for anyone.”

Júlia Robledo Carrió works as an engineer in Chassis & Design. She states: "I have been very fortunate in the education I received since I was young: my toys were cars, LEGO, balls, dolls, etc. And my hobbies were basketball, football, swimming... Not being pigeonholed, having options, and as I have grown, being able to choose according to my tastes, demonstrates that the percentage of women in engineering would be much higher with a more neutral and less sexualised education."

It becomes evident that empowering women in engineering isn't just about breaking barriers, it's about unlocking the full potential of our industry. Their stories underscore the importance of creating an inclusive environment where everyone, regardless of gender, has the opportunity to thrive.
