Applus+ Experts: Dr. Abhineet Kumar Jha, the first and only Independent Expert Evaluator for the SD VISta Standard that highlights sustainable projects

Abhineet began his academic career with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, which laid the foundation for his passion for sustainability. He furthered his expertise with a Master of Energy Management and earned a Doctorate in Environment and Sustainability. He started out as an Environmental Consultant, conducting impact assessments and developing sustainability strategies for various industries. He then transitioned to managing large-scale energy efficiency projects of various industries at State Designated Agency (SDA) for the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Govt. of India. His journey continued at Tüv Nord, where he spearheaded the integration of ESG criteria into clients’ operations. 

Abhineet joined Applus+ in 2020 and nowadays he serves as Regional Head of Sustainability Services for the Indian Subcontinent, MENA, Southeast Asia and North Asia Pacific at Applus+ Certification, focused on client engagement, business development, service innovation and team leadership. “In challenging times, it's essential to remain open-minded, willing to adapt to changing circumstances and explore new approaches to problem-solving”, says this expert who encourages creativity in his day-to-day work, fostering a stimulating environment, embracing curiosity, allocating time for experimenting, taking risks and staying open to feedback.

Abhineet also performs supporting activities for Applus+ IDIADA in India. He is a prolific author and research fellow who defines himself as resilient, passionate and committed. Motivated by his commitment to environmental stewardship, passion for innovation and desire for impactful leadership, he has been vital in driving our sustainability agenda, ensuring we exceed our responsibilities. 

Focused on continuous improvement, Abhineet engages in mentorship and coaching, stays updated with the latest trends and actively networks within his field. He values feedback and self-assessment and emphasises the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance and fostering positive relationships within the workplace. “Each member brings unique expertise and perspectives to the table, allowing us to tackle complex challenges with creativity and innovation” he states.
