Applus+, finalist in the AECA awards for Business Transparency

The awards were judged based on the financial and ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance) information made available on the companies’ websites and social media channels, taking into account the quality, accessibility and usability of the content.

The winners of the first category (for companies listed on the IBEX 35 index) were Repsol and Viscofan, while Iberdrola and BBVA came in second. CIE Automotive received a special mention for being the "most improved since the previous edition" and Iberdrola received a mention for "best integrated report".

This was the 21st edition of the awards, which were sponsored by BDO in collaboration with the Institute of Internal Auditors of Spain, Gesdocument, Grupo Zubizarreta, and the support of the Bank of Spain, the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV), the Institute of Accounting and Audit of Accounts (ICAC) and the College of Registrars of Spain, as well as media outlets Cinco Días and Consejeros.

The role of the AECA is to recognise efforts made to respond to the demand for greater transparency and reliability in corporate accountability, as defined in the AECA’s Code of Good Practices for the Disclosure of Financial Information on the Internet as well as current regulation on the subject.

Participation in the first category is automatic for companies listed on the selective IBEX 35 index as of 30th April, 2022, while companies listed on the IBEX Medium Cap and IBEX Small Cap indexes are entered into the second category. The third category can be entered by companies voluntarily. On this occasion there were no entries into the third category but a special mention was given to ADIF Alta Velocidad.
