Applus+ to conduct engineering study for re-routing of 14-kilometre stretch of Chilean road

14/02/2019

The project is based in the Arica and Parinacota region, in the north of the country

Chile’s Ministry of Public Works has awarded Applus+, through its Ingelog brand, the contract for a road engineering study related to the re-routing of a 14-km stretch of Chile’s Route 5 (in the Cuesta Chaca Sur section).

Key aspects of this road management service include establishing the road category and determining the improvements required in order to meet the standards set by the country’s road transport authority.

It will also involve an extensive mechanical analysis of soils to identify any sections with deficient foundations, in particular those stretches in which the banks require support.

Applus+ will subsequently supervise the topographic surveys enabling the drawing up of appropriate plans for the upgrade, the design of retaining walls to improve embankment stability, as well as the hydrological and hydraulic survey of the road for sanitation and drainage design.

As such, Ingelog, which was founded in 1991 and is now an Energy & Industry Division brand, will further strengthen its footing as one of Chile’s key points of reference when it comes to engineering projects in the fields of transport, mining and public infrastructure.
