Applus+ in Malaysia wins a contract to carry out inspection and corrosion management services for the biggest oil and gas client in the country

    The Applus+ team in Malaysia carried out the Top Side Rust Mitigation Programme Campaign in the offshore facilities of one of the biggest oil and gas clients in the country. This campaign consisted in the deployment of advanced non-destructive testing techniques in the client’s priority lines.

    The project involved the material, corrosion and inspection departments of Applus+ in Malaysia, where almost 30 specialised technicians spent 35 days inspecting the client’s priority/critical lines located offshore. They were divided into different teams, which deployed the following techniques: long range ultrasonic testing (UT), manual corrosion mapping, time of flight diffraction inspection (TOFD), manual phased array PAUT inspection, automated PAUT using the Cobra Scanner, automated PAUT using the Chain Scanner, automated PAUT using the Flexofoam Scanner, eddy current testing (EDT) using EddyFi Lyft, RTD INCOTEST inspection and computed radiography (CR) inspection.

    “This is our first project in Malaysia where more than five teams worked together to achieve excellent results: good coordination, a positive report, an efficient and immediate solution and high quality techniques”, remarks Yuganeshvaran Ramayah, Technical Support Engineer and Teams Coordinator of the Top Side Rust Mitigation Programme Campaign.

    Through this project, we were able to showcase our quality by providing quick and efficient inspection using the latest technology and techniques.
