Celebrating World Health Day at Applus+: where wellness and protection meet

07/04/2025

April 7 marks World Health Day, a global occasion focused on raising awareness about pressing health issues and promoting initiatives that improve the wellness of individuals worldwide. Recognizing the importance of preventive healthcare, Applus+ has launched multiple initiatives worldwide to support employee well-being.

Partnering with the National Health Insurance Company (DAMAN) and Burjeel Hospital, Applus+ in the United Arab Emirates organized a health and wellness campaign encouraging regular medical check-ups and promoting healthy lifestyles. The campaign also addressed mental health by highlighting the connection between sleep quality and psychological well-being. In Saudi Arabia, Applus+ provided medical check-ups and educational workshops, reinforcing the link between employee health, productivity and reduced absenteeism.

Applus+ has created cardio-protected facilities by installing defibrillators at 11 of its National Car Testing Service inspection centers in Ireland. Serving over one million clients annually, these centers are now equipped with trained staff ready to respond to cardiac emergencies. The company has also collaborated to validate the biocompatibility of a spinal implant and bone cement material with solutions that meet the standards set by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

In Chile, our “Salud 360º” program prioritises prevention, offering free medical check-ups, participation in state health campaigns and early cancer detection screenings tailored to the health needs of both men and women. To date, over 600 employees (representing 57.7% of the Energy & Industry Division in the country) have benefited from these initiatives. Additionally, Applus+ IDIADA has introduced the “BH Bienestar” platform, providing employees with psychological services, coaching, nutrition programs and healthy eating resources. All designed to support their physical and mental well-being in daily life.

For the seventh consecutive year, Applus+ is sponsoring the Cursa Solidaria of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). The event aims to raise funds for the La Marató de 3Cat Foundation, which this year is dedicated to respiratory diseases. There are approximately 350 known respiratory diseases, including 71 common conditions such as COPD, asthma, respiratory allergies, sleep disorders and infections. More severe illnesses like pulmonary fibrosis, lung cancer and tuberculosis also fall within this category. As part of our commitment, we’ve encouraged our employees to take part in the race, promoting both community involvement and health awareness.
