Engineering study for refurbishment of L-11 highway in Chile.

Applus+, through the Energy & Industry Division in Chile, has won a Ministry of Public Works contract to conduct an engineering study in this Andean country. The study forms part of a Chilean road-safety project that involves replacing the road surface along a 30-km stretch of the L-11 highway.

The engineering study that Applus+ is to undertake will look at overall road improvement. This encompasses road-surface replacement, geometric adjustments, signalling and safety design, service relocation and the design of intersections and other elements required for the successful execution of the project.

With a view to ensuring the project’s feasibility from both a geographical and an environmental perspective, the study will take a holistic approach. And, since this road passes through a number of urban areas, there will be a particular focus on public participation.

It is imperative that the designs developed by the Applus+ team in the region are compatible in terms of the geometrical aspects of road layout, road safety, related structures, lighting, sanitation and drainage, and all other disciplines involved in these works, whether existing or projected.
