On December 2, 2024, Applus+ in Indonesia was honored to attend an event organized by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Mimika at the Horison Hotel. This significant gathering recognized 39 companies from the Mimika region for their invaluable contributions to the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan program.
BPJS Ketenagakerjaan is Indonesia’s government-mandated social security agency for employment. It offers a range of benefits designed to protect workers and improve their quality of life. The program emphasizes providing coverage for vulnerable groups, including Indigenous Papuans (OAP), in line with directives from the Mimika Regent.
The program aims to ensure economic security for workers, with additional benefits such as a housing down payment scheme for eligible participants. This initiative seeks to create a significant social impact, improving the livelihoods of local workers and fostering a sense of security within the community.
We are proud to have been part of this initiative, which provides essential support to over 10,000 workers in the Mimika area, many of whom are Indigenous Papuans. As part of our commitment to social responsibility, Applus+ has actively contributed to ensuring social security protection for economically vulnerable workers in the region.
Our Senior Site Admin, Harry Basuki, represented Applus+ at the event and received the award certificate. This recognition highlights our dedication to enhancing the welfare of local communities and underscores our ongoing efforts to support workers and promote sustainability through meaningful initiatives.
During the ceremony, Rudyanto Panjaitan, Head of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Mimika, shared that 10,000 vulnerable workers, including many OAPs, have benefited from the program. While protection is typically provided for an average of three months, many companies have extended coverage to six months or more, aligning with the Regent's directive.
At Applus+, we remain committed to supporting programs that deliver meaningful change and contribute to the well-being of the communities where we operate. We are honored to play a role in this vital initiative and look forward to furthering our efforts in collaboration with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and other stakeholders.
