Applus+ authorized by Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS) for SCSR programme

    Applus+ has been authorized by the Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS) to apply the Botswana Standards (Compulsory Standards) Regulations (SCSR) for products imported to Botswana. Formerly known as the Standards (Import Inspection) Regulations (SIIR), the SCSR aims to ensure the quality and safety of imported goods for Botswana consumers and facilitate trade. The list of regulated products is applicable from April 1st, 2024.

    Certification Scheme Overview

    Applus+ is authorized to issue Certificates of Conformity for various product categories under the following scheme:

    • Applicable to all goods and traders
    • Specifically for frequent traders of homogeneous goods registered with Applus+

     

    Main Categories of Regulated Products

    • Mechanical products
    • Food products
    • Agricultural products
    • Electrical products
    • Chemical products
    • Automotive products
    • Building and construction products (e.g., cement)

     

    Required Documents from Clients

    • Final/Proforma invoice
    • Conformity documents (test reports, quality certificates, analysis reports, etc.) provided by exporters, according to technical requirements
       

    Conformity Requirements

    The applicable standards are prioritized as follows:

    1. Botswana standards (BOBS)
    2. International standards (ISO, IEC, etc.)
    3. National standards
    4. Manufacturer specifications (if no BOBS, international, or national standards are applicable)

    Assessment Process

    • Documentary review
    • Control testing, if necessary
    • Physical inspection
    • Conclusion of the assessment

     

    This certification enables Applus+ to enhance its service offerings, ensuring compliance and smooth operations for clients exporting to Botswana.
