Applus+ Supports SLA and ACEX in Advancing Road Maintenance Training in Saudi Arabia

11/02/2025

The Road Authority in Saudi Arabia, through the Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services and the Roads General Authority, supports the agreement signed by the Saudi Logistics Academy and ACEX (Spanish Asociation of Entreprises for Infrastructures’ Conservation and Exploitation) in its effort to enhance the skills and knowledge of road maintenance, with Applus+ playing a key role in coordinating and adapting the program to Saudi Arabia’s specific needs.

The agreement, signed during the Global Labor Market Conference in Riyadh, is supported by the Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services and the Roads General Authority. It establishes the foundation for delivering a specialized training course, the Road Operations and Maintenance Specialist (ROMS) program. This course has already trained more than 500 professionals in Spain over the past 15 years and will now be customized for Saudi Arabia’s road infrastructure sector.

The ROMS program is designed primarily for engineers working in road maintenance within government administrations and private companies. However, it will also be open to other professionals and students interested in developing expertise in this field. Delivered by recognized experts in road maintenance, the course will combine theoretical knowledge with practical applications to ensure a comprehensive learning experience.

    Under this agreement:

    • The Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services and the Roads General Authority will support the initiative.
    • SLA will provide logistical support, including IT infrastructure, promotion, enrollment, and translation services.
    • ACEX will contribute its extensive knowledge and expertise through experienced professors serving as mentors and lecturers.
    • Applus+ will act as the coordinating entity, facilitating adaptation to local requirements and ensuring seamless collaboration between stakeholders.

The first edition of the ROMS course is expected to be launched in late May or early June, marking a significant step in developing road maintenance capabilities in Saudi Arabia. Through this partnership, Applus+ continues to support industry advancements by fostering specialized training and knowledge exchange, strengthening local expertise in infrastructure management.
