THE Applus+ SOLUTION

The Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS) has authorized Applus+ to implement the Standards (Compulsory Standards) Regulations (SCSR) Programme, which applies to products imported to Botswana. BOBS introduced these regulations, previously known as the Standards (Import Inspection) Regulations (SIIR), to ensure the quality and safety of goods for consumers in Botswana and to facilitate trade. The list of regulated products under the SCSR Programme has been in effect since April 1, 2024.

BOBS authorized Applus+ to issue Certificates of Conformity for several groups of products according to the following scheme:

The main categories of regulated products are:

  • Electrical products
  • Chemical products
  • Automotive products
  • Building & Construction products (cement)

Required documents from the Client:

  • Final / Proforma invoice

Conformity requirements:

Applicable standards in priority order: Botswana standard (BOBS), then International standard (ISO, IEC, etc), then National standard, then Manufacturer specification in the absence of BOBS, international and national standards applicable to the product.

Assessment based on:

  • Documentary review
  • Control testing, if any
  • Physical inspection
  • Conclusion of the assessment

With this certification, Applus+ improves its certification of conformity (COC) services, guaranteeing compliance with standards and the efficient performance of our client's operations exporting to Botswana.
