The Scottish Branch boasts a broad membership, representing diverse industries such as aerospace, power generation, shipbuilding, petrochemical, offshore, and heavy engineering. It also includes university and corporate development, equipment manufacturers and suppliers, and service inspection companies.
This diverse range of interests allows the Branch to offer a rich programme of educational, informative, and entertaining meetings.
The main event, scheduled for Friday, 31 January 2025, is a workshop titled ‘The Role of NDT in the Assessment of Asset Integrity’. This workshop promises to be a significant highlight, focusing on the critical role of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) in maintaining asset integrity.
The Scottish Branch is dedicated to promoting the NDT profession and supporting the interests of its members. Committee members are actively involved in the Engineering Council regional organisation, the PCN Scheme, and NDT standards committees. There is a strong emphasis on continuing professional development, which is highly relevant to NDT certificate holders, students, technicians, and graduates alike.
Applus+ Technical Director, Ben Lumley, has actively participated as Vice Chair of the Practitioners Committee in the recent meetings of the Scottish Branch.
